Governance

Bexley United Charities is a registered charity and has been since 1879. As such we are regulated by the Charity Commission and operate under a Scheme of Regulation approved by the Commission. The most recent Scheme that sets out the details of our governance is dated 1 April 1980

The Scheme sets out that the Charities will have seven trustees, with three being nominated by the local Council, three being co-opted and the Vicar of St. Mary the Virgin in Bexley being an ex-officio trustee.

The day-to-day management of the almshouses and administration of the Charities is undertaken by a part-time Clerk to the Trustees. The current Clerk is Ken Newman.
